Lennox Berkeley's sacred choral music is marked by an inner conviction borne of a strong personal faith, resulting in a unique compositional voice. God, thou art my God features psalms and psalm settings in the Anglican tradition. This CD demonstrates how composers such as Byrd, Purcell, Elgar, Howells and Berkeley have used the psalms as a rich quarry for texts suited to the composition of anthems and motets.
Weekly Blog – 29 April
Today, Tuesday, the BBC sound engineers are rigging the Chapel for our broadcast of Choral Evensong tomorrow. The Choir will be joined for the service by St John's Sinfonia and will involve a liturgical performance of Bach's Cantata no 192, Nun danket alle Gott.
