Weekly Blog – Thursday 9 June

This week's blog

The proximity of the coming term is certainly beginning to show this week in the activity around College and around our University town. A particularly familiar presence is that of the large number of candidates for the Choral Trials being held this week. Notoriously tricky to coordinate, the Trials involve the applicants singing a formal audition in the Music Faculty and, often, singing to the Director of Music at their first choice College. We wish the best to all those applying this year!

As wee look forward to the coming term at St John's, we anticipate bringing into our ranks the new intake of choral scholars, rushing to remould the Choir's unique sound, eminating from the very walls of the Chapel, and to ensure that the best of traditions continue to live on within and around them. Not that we keep our unique sound to ourselves! This webcast is from another of our so-called 'joint services', with Trinity College's Choir, which gave us the opportunity to sing under a different baton and to mesh together with another group of musicians with a different approach to the music from our own.
