Francis Pott began his musical life as a chorister at New College, Oxford. He was educated at Winchester College and then at Magdalene College, Cambridge, where he studied composition with Robin Holloway. He was later a lay clerk at Winchester Cathedral under David Hill (who later became Director of Music at St John's). His setting of There is no rose is treats its opening melody in a set of variations, with various canons and fugato textures, with ever-fluctuating harmony.
Nethsingha is his own man and absolutely his own musician, which is why his choir continues to evolve and lead
