13 May 2018 - Sung Eucharist

Recorded on
Sunday, 13 May 2018

This webcast of Sung Eucharist takes as its setting the Missa O Quam Gloriosum by Tomás Luis de Victoria. It is a 'parody' Mass - that is, one based on a preexisting work - which uses the materials of his celebrated motet O Quam Gloriosum est Regnum, published 1572. It is characterised by concision, simplicity and clarity of texture; a clear outworking of the Tridentine musical-liturgical reforms agreed earlier in the sixteenth century.
