The anthem from this service, O vos omnes, was composed for the choir by Alex Woolf, an undergraduate music student at St John's. The work received its first performance in this service. The text is taken from a responsory for Holy Week and is often set as one of the Tenebrae Responsories for Holy Saturday. Famous settings include those by Victoria, Gesualdo and Casals.
Phillip Moore succeeded Francis Jackson as Organist and Master of Music at York Minster from 1983 until his retirement in 2008. He had previously held positions at Eton College, Canterbury Cathedral and Guildford Cathedral. He is currently serving a two year term as President of the Royal College of Organists.
