Vaughan Williams' Mass in G Minor was composed in 1921 and dedicated to Gustav Holst and the Singers at Thaxted in North Essex. It was first performed by the City of Birmingham Choir in 1922 although its first liturgical performance was directed by Richard Runciman Terry at Westminster Cathedral.

The work is scored for double choir and four soloists and sets all five movements of the latin mass.
